Zane Smith pulls off 3rd PASS victory of 2015, as Setzer and Nasse Tangle

Story By: Josh Parrish

South Boston Speedway has been one of the most competitive tracks on the PASS South Super Late Model series schedule. It has produced some of the best racing the series has seen.
The latest race on Saturday night saw Florida native Stephen Nasse dominate the early stages of the 150 lap feature event. Not far behind Nasse is where you would find series point leader Zane Smith and Brandon Setzer,
both of which also compete in the CARS Super Late Model Tour. Setzer was seeking his first win in the PASS Series where as Smith has already visited victory lane twice.

An impressive battle between the top 3 ended when Smith got under Nasse for the lead going into turn three. From there Nasse rode the high line which Setzer had been using all night.
When they entered turn three the next lap Nasse got a bump from Setzer and the two leaders went up the track and hard into the wall ending both drivers nights.

That incident left Zane Smith alone in the lead and he able to pull away for yet another PASS win in 2015. “We were just riding there for the longest time,” said Smith.
“I got the opportunity to take my chance and I got under Nasse and Setzer got into the back of him and there was nothing he could do. We were able to pull away on the next restart and get the win.
It’s been a great season in PASS and a lot of things have gone our way. We got in a wreck going for a win at Caraway, but other then that’s it’s been a perfect year so far.”

Setzer was upset with the outcome, but it was also all the emotion of being so close to winning. “I made the commitment to go high and I run in the back of him,” said Setzer.
“It was my fault. It ruined the night for both of us. I know they are upset, but we can race together really well. We did it at Orange County. We’ll just regroup from here.”

X-1R Pro Cup Series & Allison Legacy Series : SNMP

On Saturday (9/28/13) The X-1R Pro Cup Series returned to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, North Carolina. This is the 2nd time this year that the series has been to the track. Along with the series, there were also 3 supporting classes running including the Limited Late Models, Allison Legacy Series, and the UCAR’s.

The first race of the night was the Allison Legacy Series, which ran a caution filled 35 laps. This was the 13th race of the season for the series. The winner of the race was Tyler Hill, who had dominated all night. This was his 3rd win this year.

Then was the 200 Lap Feature Event, the X-1R Pro Cup Series. Coming to the green Lee Pulliam missed a shift and caused multiple cars to stack up. That caused serious damage to the front end of some cars on the outside lane.

Later in the night Lee Pulliam had troubles and had to pull in the pits.- (pictured below)

On Lap 100 there was a 10-minute break that allowed crews to change tires, add fuel, and make adjustments.

After the break the action heated up as Caleb Holman moved to the front of the field, but in the end Clay Rogers charged to the front using the high line and took the victory.
