Southern Modified Racing Series Releases Revised Schedule
Carteret County Event Will Move to 2019 SMRS Schedule
(Sophia, NC): The Southern Modified Racing Series has released a revised schedule for the remainder of the 2018 season.
The revised schedule has five events remaining beginning with the “53rd Anniversary Night” at Caraway Speedway on August 25th. The Series takes a week off before returning to Caraway on September 8th followed two weeks later with an event at Hickory Motor Speedway on September 22nd. The series then hits Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC on October 6th and wraps up the 2018 season at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC on October 20th.
Missing from the revised schedule is the Labor Day weekend event originally set for September 2nd at Carteret County Speedway. “We want to thank CCS owner, Bobby Watson, for working with SMRS on the date change. Several of the SMRS teams expressed concern for the schedule having three events in three weeks so Bobby graciously worked with us on the schedule change. We hope to be able to make a return visit to CCS during the 2019 season with a quality event for the Crystal Coast race fans”, said SMRS owner Renee Hackett.
“The Modifieds ran here at Carteret County Speedway in 2015 when Cale Gale took the win and they put on a great show for our fans who have been looking forward to their return” said CCS owner Watson. “We wanted to give those fans another great event and it looks like that will have to wait until 2019. CCS is known for great racing and we look forward to the SMRS series bringing that type event in 2019”, Watson said.
