Lucama, NC – Jacob Borst from Elon, NC is quickly becoming one of the hottest drivers in limited late model competition. In 2015, Jacob finished second in the nation in quarter midget competition, racing in multiple states, such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan, Connecticut, Alabama, Maryland, Ohio and Indiana. After quarter midgets, Borst transitioned to the Allison Series, where he posted a fifth place finish in the championship standings (after missing the opening four races due to age restraints) and also became the youngest winner in the division’s history.

Most recently, Borst put his #25 Nichols Dodge Chrysler Jeep Limited Late Model in Victory Lane at Myrtle Beach Speedway in the SELLM Series Challenger Feature. Myrtle Beach is a track Borst says he always looks forward to. ” I ran at Myrtle Beach Speedway last year in the Allison Legacy series. It was on my second Allison Legacy start and I won the pole and finished second in the race. Myrtle Beach has been good to us for sure!” This was Borst’s first win in the Challenger Division and second Limited Late Model win overall.

Borst also competed in the Pro Division at Myrtle Beach where he qualified 9th out of an impressive field of 40 cars. Unfortunately his strong effort was cut short after being involved in one of many wrecks that occurred in the 100 lap feature. This resulted in a 26th place finish.

Next weekend, Borst will be making his maiden voyage to Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, NC as he will be competing in the Limited Late Model division as part of the 17th Annual Thanksgiving Classic.

For Borst’s team, winning is always the goal but they are aware of the tough competition that will be at The Classic. “We always go with the goal of winning but we know that will be tough. We have had fast cars all year and are confident that we can run in the top 5 and have a shot at the win.”

So far, drivers such as Mini Tyrell, Akinori Ogata, and Karl Budzevski have all pre-registered for the Limited Late Model division ahead of the Thanksgiving Classic.
