After the exciting Pocono Green 250 at Pocono Raceway, Kyle Larson and Justin Allgaier talked to the media about what they noticed with the new aero package in effect for the 2017 NXS season and how it was different at Pocono then at any other track they had visited this season. Larson told reporters that “Pocono has had the biggest difference out of any of the tracks we have visited this year from what I have felt.” He said that this race seemed to have slower entry speed into the corners.
Allgaier agreed that he had to back up the corner entry from what he did the last time the series visited the Tricky Triangle.
When asked about his car at the end of the race, Larson said that he was trying to carry less momentum to allow the closing drivers to get in his dirty air to hold them at bay till the end of the race. He had began to face tight conditions and said the only way to keep the others behind him was to affect their cars as well. Allgaier was able to slip by Larson at the end to claim 2nd, as Keselowski would take home the win. With his 2nd place finish, Allgaier was also able to take over the points lead from Elliott Sadler, leading him by 1 point.
As for tomorrows Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race, Larson said he honestly doesn’t know what to expect when it comes to pit strategy. He said you can expect to see possibly 3 or more strategies in place between different teams as was seen in the Xfinity race today.
